PDF Studio is a comprehensive full-featured PDF editor that offers you a large selection of functions present in Adobe Acrobat, but at a significantly lower price. With this application, you can create new PDF documents straight out of your scanner or from other image files, and add your own text, post-it notes, bookmarks, etc. It supports PDF forms and can change most of the properties of the document (security options included).
The functionality available includes nearly everything you need to capture and create your own PDF documents, to merge and split existing files, to export and insert pages, etc. Most of the editing functionality present in Acrobat is also available here – bookmarks, text highlight, audio and text post-it notes, text and image stamps and watermarks, etc.
Without claiming to be a function-to-function substitute of Adobe’s professional editor, PDF Studio does cover most of what you will probably need to create and edit your PDF files. You may miss, however, one big group of functions present in Acrobat – that related to accessibility of the PDF document. The program clearly overlooks this important feature, which helps users to have access to the content of PDF files. In fact, the lack of OCR capabilities guarantees that the pages of all documents created with PDF Studio will be plain images, unsearchable and completely unreadable by those who cannot see.
Except for this significant flaw, PDF Studio is worth a try, and certainly a much cheaper alternative for those creating image-based PDF documents.
